Nirvana
2005 Challenge Cup Report 6th Sept
by Simon Thomas
The
earlier
starting
time
seemed
to
catch
out
a
few
people,
but
unless
riding
in
the
dark
without
lights
is
your
forte
the
earlier
time
was
necessary.
Conditions
were
perfect
&
everyone
seemed
to
be
flying.
Dylan
stormed
round
the
course
with
Jamie
in
hot
pursuit.
But
Dylan
held
off
the
strong
challenge
&
managed
to
become
the
Nirvana
challenge
champion
for
2005,
with
Jamie
Newall in
2nd
&
Marcus
Brueton
3rd
(&
Adrian
Brookes
in
4th)
 The
winner,
Dylan. Marcus,
Dylan,
Jamie
&
Adrian.
A
spectators
view
The
last
of
the
race
series
dawned
bright
&
clear.
We
headed
off
to
'F
&
M'
to
try
&
get
some
piccies
of
the
riders
at
the
beginning
of
it.
Things
were
going
well
until
Stuart,
who
had
already
ridden
it
&
was
riding
back
up
the
climb
said
one
of
the
signs
at
the
bottom
had
been
switched
around
(by
lord
knows
who,
some
sad
person)
So
we
high
tailed
it
down
to
the
bottom
to
correct
it.
But
not
before
the
only
rider
not
to
know
the
course,
Steve
Dodd,
to
follow
the
sign
&
ended
up
doing
one
lap
in
an
hour
&
with
a
thorough
knowledge
of
Beare
Green!!!
He
took
it
well
though.
Once
again
the
standard
of
riding
was
superb
with
me
being
unable
to
catch
any
crashes
on
camera.
But
Mike
the
psyche
did
catch
Neil
Lodge
trying
to
ride
over
the
tree
on
'wave
of
mutilation'
no
handed
with
predictable
consequences.
We
then
headed
back
to
the
start
area
where
Robin
had
found
his
true
vocation
&
got
the
BBQ
going
&
was
gathering
kindling
like
a
good
'un.
Loads
of
food
&
beer
&
everyone
was
happy,
with
the
stragglers
not
leaving
till
10.30pm.
Thanks
to
Neil
for
providing
the
BBQ
&
Robin
for
going
to
buy
some
matches.
