ROUTES AND RIDES - Trails

Sunday ride 23rd March 2003

Wow! what a day, what a ride. A heathy turnout, unsurprising considering the weather. We headed straight up to the top of Ranmore & over to 'Abba Zabba'. Not for the faint hearted & a nice warm up for what was to come.

'Abba Zabba' is a bomb hole, which the trick is to get down in one piece & then keep your momentum to get up the other side, around a tree & then down another drop.

Then it was onto 'Blind Terror' a horribly steep drop with the only run out a similar steep climb. Pictures below

Then (for the four) it was on into 'Dark star' a steep, rooty controlled descent. Very challenging !

After such an adrenalin fuelled start it was a real contrast to stop at Shere for a tea break by the stream. Where without any persuasion at all Ian H threw his shoes off skipped into the stream & was up a tree, bike & all before you could say 'what are you doing!!' He then posed for the picture which he thought would be the best of the day.

It would have been a good shot, had Suicide Dave & Northern Henry decided not to jump 'Levitate me' near the top of Pitch Hill, both on hardtails.
See pictures below.

Sorry about the blurring.

They were two happy bunnies on cloud nine all the way back to Westcott via Hangwire & Bosanova. Everyone agreed it was the best ride so far this year. Conditions are great & everyone's looking forward to the next few months.
